Media Lab Mural 1
9' x 3' at 300dpi raster
This is a very large
digital mural I made to use as a backdrop for the Media Lab at the Media
Learning Complex at CSUMB. Originally, there was an overlay of text and some
logos for this but, the overlay has been lost to the ravages of time.
Our RIP could not process
this image which forced the creation
of an all-vector replacement.
Media Lab Mural 2
9' x 3' vector .eps
The replacement mural
for the all-raster first version took a very different approach. This rendering
is cropped.
"Chastity Belt?"
28"' x 22" digital painting
I made this to adorn
a very empty wall in a high traffic area at CSUMB.
My intention was to raise
issues of contestation of authority and who tells you what to wear and when to
wear it. I was perplexed by American prudishness.
"By No Small Means"
22"' x 28" digital painting
This was my first use
of 3-D digital models as sources to paint on and over. There is quite a lot of
detail within this piece.
My intention was to show the alienation and oppression of technology-driven erotica.
"TechnoLogical"
28"' x 22" graphic illo
In this, I was playing
with shape and form with the idea of combining technology, logic, and art.
"Tincture"
17"' x 11" graphic illo
Quite fascinated with
texture and color, I was exploring the mixing of the two in this piece. The title
means "color" in art circles.
"Golden Shoulder"
12" x 6" digital painting
Generated entirely on
my computer, this work started much larger — with the whole figure featured.
As I worked with it, I found my inspiration in her head and hair and the negative
space around it.
Is her shoulder golden
in color? You decide.
Rave flyer art
6" x 6" graphic
While in college in the
mid 1990s, I had some great experiences in the Rave scene around SF,
Cruz and Monterey areas. I was able to help out with some artwork every once
in a while. The scene got ugly when little kids and hard drugs invaded and I
got out!
PLUR, baby!
"The Middle Cannot Hold"
11" x 17" graphic
This is a mostly-prophetic
work I did in late 2000. There is a lot of symbology built-in. The text reads
"When the middle can hold no longer, the voices of opposition will be silent."

"Bonehead Makes His Move"
900px x 700px illo
This is an experiment
I was conducting on the idea of developing comics with the computer. I created
and rendered the figures and backgrounds and composited in Photoshop.
My biggest challenge
was creating the illusions of distance and perspective.
"Evolution"
2" x 8" illo
This is a section of
a bookmark I made to advertise services in support of faculty at CSUMB.
My intention was to show how we had progressed from a simple media service
to
a
full
service design studio.
Personally, I subscribe to Intelligent
Design theory.
"Freefalling"
1280px x 1024px rendering
I made this as a personal
statement about someone I know and I used this as a desktop picture.
This was
rendered and then composited in Adobe After Effects for the motion blur. The
clouds
were rendered and then
hand-painted.
